Anon, back during BW the anime itself was advertising the Meloetta arc finale as "the end of Team Rocket" with actual posters and trailers on national TV and shit. While that advertisement was going on, late BW episodes featuring Team Rocket were currently in production. Everyone professionally involved with the anime knew that this "end of Team Rocket" wasn't actually the end of Team Rocket.

Someone calling MPM "The end of Ash's journey" and "his final chapter" does not mean you're free to sue TPC for millions of dollars if Ash ever returns you dumb fuck.

"The final chapter of Satoshi and Pikachu's journey" was the tagline for MPM in Japan as well, yet Yuyama still said he "was sure we'd see Satoshi again some day" in an official interview in an actual print magazine. Where is TPC's official statement that this isn't true? Surely that "damaged their brand" way more.

For my occasional anime fix, I think I'll stick to the first 24 episodes of the Kanto series, Shudo's movie trilogy, Mewtwo Returns, departure episodes (Pidgeot, Charizard, Misty), Larvitar arc, Lucario movie, Project Mew and about half of the MPM miniseries. Also Origins and Green's spectacular Evolutions episode.

That's about it for now. All these attempts at a "feel-good" anime don't work for me, and yet I never watched the show for its battles, either. Just give me some authentic drama, mystery or nostalgia.

There are coordinators who have no losses against him. Or that he uses a shit mixture of Pokemon and not his Shillzard against Tobias. Or the Elesa Match. Or snowbelle. Or that Pikachu jealously episode after nearly 2 decades. Or that the match against Leon and the Libero Cinderace had to fucking forget the ability existed later down the match. Roy's starting to get more art nowadays, but he definitely had a slow start. I think it took the fandom some time to warm up to his design. Goh has some very, very dedicated fans, and I expect they'll still be making art of him for the foreseeable future. Goh still doesn't get the amount of art Ash's female companions get, but he's above most of Ash's male companions, with the exceptions being Gary (palletshipping is the OG ship after all, alongside pokeshipping), and Brock (the OG trio will probably never be surpassed in the amount of art/fics out there, especially after it got something of a revitalization with MPM).

In JN and MPM they definitely had much better designs looking closer to their original looks.

If Japan had the courage back then and moved Ash to a support role since BW, I'd believe Ash's story wouldn't have ended in MPM since he does not appear in every episode.
