>>53410473> I don't know anything about Japan, explain the red thread of fate to me and how Misty saying it was suggestiveMisty reappeared by "catching" Ash with a fishing line, which folks anticipated as a "red string of fate" reference when it showed up in the trailer for MPM. As others have noted, in Japanese cultures (and other Asian cultures, i believe) the string is representative of marriage/soul mates, and is said to be "unbreakable."
And then to really lay it on thick, she uses the actual phrase almost immediately after appearing in reference to Clauncher - a Pokemon which some have interpreted as being symbolically representative of Ash (only in the context of the episode).
The fact that the rest of the episode also drops a lot hints also serves to reinforce the "red string' interpretation.
You may have seen the screen grab of Corphish/Claunger and Ash/Misty with hearts in the middle.
It's also the first instance of something that's happened a lot during MPM, where Ash/Misty are shown as mirror images of one another (both get pulled into the water in the exact same manner by Clauncher, and then react in the same way).
Then the episode concludes with Misty following Ash through the forest, blushing, stammering, and coming up with a flimsy excuse to tag along once again.
