paul is the complete opposite of ash, and not just a gary spinoff with a shitty personality
both have completely different opinions on meeting and raising pokemon, but paul ends up respecting ash after seeing how someone can be strong even if they train their pokemon in a way he doesnt approve of
dawn starts off with a goal (unlike misty or may), has a rough start but learns from her mistakes and ends up being the runner up at the grand festival in her first try
has a solid team and also comes up with great contest presentations
brock ends up deciding he wants to be a pokemon doctor
really good generation
