People only use Gardevoir because they want to fuck it, myself included. It's dead weight until you're almost halfway through the game, unless you dump every bit if exp into her at the expense of your other mons. Also Kadabra may not get tbolt but it can cope with shock wave, which is enough to zap any electric targets anyway.

Power Plant honestly has the most appealing boosts, but it may both be more considerate to your Community Researchers as well as a better opportunity-cost to go somewhere where you can actually encounter Shuckle. At least that way you'll get a head start on Shuckle candies. The other boosts are also only "slight" and are diluted enough that you may not find what you're looking for either way.

It helps to play stuff, you'll get a feeling for the language structure at any rate. Pokémon's vocabulary isn't that bad. Once you get used to seeing how sentences are structured, it may be easier for you to actually perceive more complex sentences and not get totally blindsided.

Do some Anki grind for words and kanji, study vocabulary so you can get the context for those words and when to use them (ie. おつり is the change you receive back from a purchase, not the coins you carry around), and do a lot of listening and shadowing.

Breloom is handicapped by Masuda's retarded desire to balance it by having Shroomish learn Spore at level 54 for no fucking reason so I've literally never used this thing in a full Hoenn run. The only one you might have gotten right is Flygon, but again I've only ever used one once because apparently Trapinch doesn't learn any worthwhile Ground moves. You have to teach the fucker Dig so that it's not a useless sack of shit the entire run. Absolute most embarrassing Dragon I've ever raised

Anyway no "Hoenn" Team doesn't have Gardevoir so you already failed step 1 to begin with. I'd say the only thing you got right is OG May and Blaziken, most iconic duo since Hilda and Tepig

If he agrees, spend that two hours getting the JP CharY for your May, then trade the Oak guy. You'd have essentially gotten an Oak for a May.

Dunno about OP, and it probably is just a genwar thread, but the quality of Pokémon games did drop pretty hard and this is a fairly common observation from longtime fans. For example, I think somebody could take a single route of Kanto and point to it as being mediocre, like Route 15, but that ignores the context of the game, where you've done Route 12/13/14/15 (and possibly even Route 11) all in a row as a gauntlet of Trainers and different types of route designs, where 15 functions as a breather. Meanwhile, if you had been speaking to NPCs and interacting with the world, you could have gotten the Bike Voucher from the Fan Club, which allows you to go through the Route 16 gate and take the much easier and faster Cycling Road which literally pulls you down. In that case, you may have hypothetically taken the gauntlet backwards and Route 15 is the start, or skipped it entirely. In this case, the gauntlet is a three-pronged super route that connects Vermilion City, Lavender Town, and Fuchsia City. Route 212 in DP is also another good route that's broken into two halves with totally different route design that utilizes shortcuts, has a significant amount of content, is technically optional, and is a good amount into the game. Route 210 is also similar.
