SM fags would get mad since they think that SM is better than XY in every conceivable way, and if XY is validated at all through continuity they spergout, even if it isn’t Serena. I don’t think Mayfags actually care for May/Ash shipping but idk since theres so few of them kek, they would mostly be mad that May finally comes back to the anime, only to lose a Contest tournament AGAIN.
