Mostly the same for me. Nostalgia isn't a factor after gen 3, I either like the games or don't. Although I jave been playing since 98, the buzz for gen 3 with Morrison and his Blaizken was the real hype for me as a kid. FRLG was insane though, so many if us lost our shit at the thought of GBA Kanto.

Grudge matches for the sake of grudge matches in leagues is a good enough reason. Morrison and Barry's stories aren't complete. Ash never beat Tyson. Ritchie was underdeveloped.

That's exactly my point. Except for Kanto, the introductory league episodes in the rest of the leagues have been of similar quality. It's the two last battles that rank the different leagues.

The only league rivals who fit in this mold are Gary, Morrison, Paul, Trip, and now Alain. All of these are characters introduced before the League who go lose to Ash during the League. Ash also battles all of these characters before the League starts, and loses to them all.

Harrison, Jackson, Tobias, and Cameron never battled Ash before the League and that's what spelled his doom.

Even though, Shota's schtick is that his team is made to counter Ash's, that's what makes him dangerous. He could have been defeated by Tierno of all people if the fatso had had a Mega.

I know it's too late because episodes are already written, but are they gonna to adress Ash's issues against Shouta?? I mean, Ash's pride and fear over being surpassef get over his head again and that makes him doing a lousy performance in the 1st half of the battle until both Shouta and/or Serena call him out on his bullshit and thus, he does a miraculous comeback.

Just like Morrison's issue against Ash in Hoenn, but with Ash being the bothered one.

Besides one of those League "Rivals" was Morrison, you might be okay with sucking his cock but he was one of the most annoying characters ever and nobody gave a fuck about him nor Tyson, he just appear out of fucking nowhere
Neither the battle with the fatty or Tyson felt as satisfactory as Ash finally defeating neither Gary or Paul
