In the anime, I agree, as Roark felt like the 7th Gym Leader or so. Mf even gave Paul a very hard time.
In the games Falkner's nostalgic weight outweighs Roark's competitive weight.

Bro you cant just give a person immunity from all criticism because he busts scammers... He also picks on a lot of innocent people as well he doesnt always hit his target and doesnt disclose all the information and makes a lot of baseless allegations not backed by fact, but only mere speculation. I like when he gets the bad guys, but hes doing harm to people who dont deserve it as well. Very dangerous to gove someone complete and total immunity from criticism, hes surrounded by yes-men in his discord and anyone he points out his blatant and obvious misteps or mistakes gets banned... There is tons of kids (yes actual kids) who want to buy the cards IRL
It may not seem as crazy as the Logan Paul stuff but he was the one who popularised the idea of owning a $250k piece of cardboard to kids

I used to have fun ripping packs between BW- 2nd block of SUMO, but now even retail the packs aren't something I can afford or find. The big thing is that everyone and their fudgepacking boyfriend is grading cards and trying to resell sealed product. My base for every set when I used to buy regular-ish was 1, maybe 2 booster boxes and an etb. After, singles and for the most part it was affordable. It's not as much a gambling addiction, as it's more just a small part of a much larger hobby for me. I sold a huge chunk of my collection during covid before Logan Paul fucked everything, and now I'm kicking myself for not waiting. It's a lot, but the big thing is just general frustration with not being able to pick things up at my leisure. Maybe I'll buy N's cards, but at this point, I'm probably just going to save up and buy a few older cards I missed out on when I was younger. It's just a sad case where this hobby is at, and I don't care for it.

I think the rivalry will be somewhat onesided.
He will mostly antagonize Roy, because he constantly jobs to him while Roy remains friendly towards him and entertains his challenges any time.
If he is younger than Roy than he basically is also there to show off Roy's new maturity by contrasting it with Ult's immaturity.
I doubt he will be a "real" rival like Gary, Paul or Alain.
Otherwise they would have give him a less silly mega like sableye.

It is not working and you have to be on hard deny to refuse to admit it. It's like the time during Best Wishes when it was obvious that Trip isn't working as the "new Paul" and they should reduce him to side rival like Burgundy after losing to Ash in a showdown early but they kept pushing him as the "New Paul" even if they have to shove it on everybody's throat.

People also forget that the Paul battle was so intense that Ash's heavy hitters were exhausted, so he was forced to scrape a team together out of whoever else he had. If he actually had access to Infernape instead of having to bring Torkoal, he'd have probably gotten a bit further.

He seems younger than Riko/Roy to me so I think he will job to Roy once and constantly pester him for a rematch.
Or that is the impression I get from him atleast.
The fact that his mega ace is a "silly" mon like sableye instead of a "cool" mon like blaziken or whatever enforces that to me.
