I wanted to gauge what Pokemon from that dex jumped out as champion material- kinda chuckling that so many of you picked aces that are going to other main characters.
Actual champ is the cool older brother of the protag, and whom the protag lives in the shadow of. One of the story arcs is little brother manning up and learning to be his own kind of trainer, not feel inferior to the literal strongest trainer in the region.
Toying with the idea, that both brothers were given a Trapinch, big bro quickly evolves to Flygon, lil bro falls behind. Much later on, lil bro re-bonds with Trapinch, evolves to a better Flygon. The brothers have like ~6 battles but the only one lil bro wins is the 1v1 of Flygons, so big bro, being a bit of a Paul, ditches Flygon and turns to Charizard (Mega X-like regional form) as his new ace. Now I'm at the stage of rounding out big bro's team.
It's a bit hard with only a 151 dex. Lot of overlap, reuse, constrictions. I wanted to emulate gen 1, but I'm considering gen 3s 201 instead. Thoughts? If you're making a basic bitch journey fic in an OC region, what dex size would you use?
