Baby Pokemon, Pokemon you can only catch at certain times of day, friendship evolutions, trade evolutions that also require the Pokemon to be holding an item, specific events tied not only to the day of the week but also the time of day as well (some as tiny as one real life hour)
It's all just stuff that's there to waste your time.
>Diamond and PearlI actually like the lore stuff in this game, it's pretty cool to bring some more mysticism into Pokemon and have it be treated with the grandeur it deserves for the first time.
Also, kinda cheating but this is the game that introduced Wi-Fi connections to the series and I have to give it credit for that, because completing the Dex became way more fun starting with this game thanks to trading with online randos and the GTS.
