Here's my shitty opinion. Diamond and Pearl, while flawed, aren't as bad as people make them out to be. ORAS is better than RS, but a far cry from Emerald. USUM is, at best, a sidegrade to SM. Gen 1 has "first-game syndrome" where it's fine, but limited compared to what came after. The fact that XY are lower than RBY says more about XY than Gen 1.

The idea here was just to Swords Dance and take out Spiritomb and leave if I took a notable amount of damage, but instead I got a sweep-ready Rampardos...

Garchomp breaks the Reflect with Brick Break as Chelsea comes in.
Garchomp Dragon Rush Misses(I doubt it would KO without a crit, but..) and SPECS Ice Beam oneshots.

Vessa gets in on Sludge Bomb, gets poisoned.
Roserade uses... Sludge Bomb again, despite it being resisted, and Vessa Hypnotizes it.
Dream Eater does big damage, and heals Vessa back up.
Roserade use yet another resisted Sludge Bomb, and Dark Pulse takes it out.
Cynthia is so smooth-brained in Diamond and Pearl...
Supposedly she has basic NPC AI?

The majority of players skipped Crystal, or they played it years later on VC or emulation. Yes, I know VC is emulation, you don't have to remind us.

GS are the foundation for our collective understanding of Gen 2's structure. I personally prefer Crystal, but I'm not going to sit here and act like it's a touchstone. It should be, but it's not. RSE are the touchstone for this structural change. When the majority of people only played Crystal after the fact, after RSE, the Suicune scenario doesn't seem like a notable departure. If anything, that demonstrates how limited Crystal's narrative encounter was. There's a huge gap between Eusine's brief scenarios compared to the Magma/Aqua story. I'd argue the Snorlax event from RBY was more obtrusive and restrictive than Suicune. But I'm sure you'll ignore all that and assert it's very different because Snorlax wasn't a box legendary.

Duplicating has been going on since day 1. Check the auction sites. Any Shiny Alpha you want max EV/IV are $2. Highly advise against this. Once they patch in "checks" next year all these Pokemon will be flagged.

Discord has trade bots that can also give you any Pokemon you want for free. You have to wait a bit between each Pokemon you receive. It's a free Alpha Shiny can't complain.
