All the girls that develop canon crush on Ash before XY series were unattractive. Misty and Lillie's feeling for Ash were implied at best and Pearlshipping is basically "Two person so close that they may have been a couple" situation. So far Serena is first and only attractive girl that has a direct and canon crush on Ash.

I wonder if writers did this because they didn't wanted Ash's previous love interest (Macy, Anbel and Angie) to be popular.

The episode where Ash reflects on his loss to Paul, and Dawn decides to put on a circus to cheer him and his Pokemon up, is probably the first time I've seen something come out of DP that points to Dawn shipping with Ash rather than a platonic relationship like May had. I like Dawn a lot -- she's not always doing the most interesting things, but her character arc is compelling and she has a fun personality -- but she's a fairly typical non-Misty character when it comes to shipping chemistry. This episode changed my mind a little bit. I'm beginning to see why so many on this board go with Pearlshipping. Haven't fully bought in yet, but it's a concession.

For whatever it matters, tomorrow I head out of the country for work, so I won't be doing recap anon shit for about a week. I might lurk and post on the other recap anon's stuff, but otherwise I'm indisposed.

Likewise besides 1 certain person on Bulbagarden who commissions people to draw her Misty/Dawn art, I see most Misty fans also really like May (besides people outside the fandom like that random person on twitter I posted in the blog section who went on a rant against May for no reason, lol).

Besides some people who still can't get over Misty being "replaced" (and we're in the year 2023 now, so anyone who spent the last 20 years angry about this probably needs bigger priorities in their life since I know most of these people are like 30 year old adults now) , I think for the most part female ship wars are over. Again besides the new younger gen of teen fans who grew up with XY, but they'll probably improve as the years go on like older fans did.

Part 4 of my Pearlshipping longfic Divinity is up

The first three chapters are a "prologue" that took place over the course of a single day almost 4 years before the rest of the story begins/takes place. Chapter 4 begins with a final insight into events of that day where Dawn's heart was utterly broken as she failed to do the one thing she set out to do that day, unknown to her that Serena had the same thing in mind.

The rest of chapter 4 is Dawn's life after the timeskip (days away from being 19) working on Profesor Rowan's ranch on the outskirts of Sandgem town, when someone comes to tell her some really bad news.

The adventure begins in earnest from here on out. The story is going to admittedly have some darker themes but I'm gonna do my best to ensure it's not edgy.

The final chapter in the opening sequence that is set 4 years before the rest of the story. Everything is set and Dawn merely needs to make her move to show Ash how she feels. Of course, however, she isn't the only one with that idea on that eventful day in LaRousse.

every pokegirl even ones like Iris, Mallow, Lille, Lana, etc has all had moments with Ash. Dawn has had plenty of romantic or romanticly implied moments with Ash more than others.
The case for Pearlshipping is stronger than you think.
The only pokegirl to not have any moment is maybe Chloe, and that's because she never did much of anything.
