I tend to headcanon that her arm is bad and she genuinely needs the brace in order to use her arm properly, so I like to imagine her having no choice but to wear it even when it doesn't fit the occasion. (I think at the very least, it's confirmed that she needs it to throw pokeballs decently. And even in pokemas, they kept her brace when giving her a new outfit, implying it's not something she can just take off depending on her outfit.) I can see her wearing dresses with long sleeves to hide most of the brace, and walking around with hands folded in front of her in a way where her good hand covers the hand with the brace all to try and minimize how noticeable it is. But she'd have no real option but to wear it lest she cause an even bigger scene dropping stuff and causing a mess due to her bad arm.
In school and stuff she can get away with wearing the brace as it matches her sporty aesthetic, and she can just brush it off as being for throwing poke balls. But at a formal event, the brace just becomes a glaring sign that her arm doesn't work properly and she'd probably feel a bit self-conscious about it.
