“Come on out, Espeon!” A flick of the wrist tossed the Poké Ball in a low arc, which cracked open the moment it hit the ground. Out came the aforementioned Pokémon, who swayed its forked tail and craned its tall ears as it took a moment to stretch across the carpet in a catlike manner. Once it gained its bearings, Espeon looked up at the Elite Four member, waiting on its first orders.
He closed his eyes and nodded. “Psychic, if you will.”
The purple-furred creature trilled as it raised its head, enveloping Cynthia in a powerful blue glow. Not only was she among the most renowned Trainers in the world, she was also more than capable of defending herself if push came to shove, but even the strongest humans were nothing but putty in the grasp of any experienced Psychic-type. Just like that, she’d lost complete control of her own body, joints firmly locked into position with nary a twitch of the finger able to breach its telekinetic hold. A gasp slipped from her lips as she felt her muscles seize up, pamphlet falling from her grip, and despite her best attempts to fight back, it didn’t take long for her to realize that she’d been completely immobilized from tip to toe.
“Really, I’d just call this a different kind of strategy,” he hummed, polite as ever despite the circumstances. “Regardless of how dire a situation seems, there is always a way to spin it to your advantage and ultimately come out on top. Considering the fact my tactics on the battlefield haven’t been working, I’ve been exploring alternative methods of defeating you and claiming your title for myself.”
With a bit of effort, Cynthia swallowed the lump building in her throat and steeled herself through clenched teeth.
