>>58347623Anon, the game is mainly about having fun. Minmaxing is good if you wanna be a bit more intensive with the game.
General rules in order of importance
1) Keep high CP mons. They will carry you early game because you shouldn't, under no circumstances, power up your mons for now.
2) Keep high IV (stars) mons (as close to having all 3 stats filled as possible).
3) If you like collecting: Keep XXL and XXS Mons along with shinies.
Note: If you have Pokémon HOME you can send your shinies there so that you just keep 1-2 of the same species.
- Note 2: I didn't mention anything about keeping Pokémon with "PvP IVs" because that's something you should worry about mid to end game, let's say (ignore if anyone tells you otherwise), for now just focus on levelling up and getting good mons for raids and for beating Team Rocket grunts.
Here are some other things you should do as soon as you can:
1) Once you reach level 10, start hosting raids on websites like Leekduck, apps like Poke Genie or PokeBattler or severs on Discord. Doesn't matter if you have shit counters, the remote raiders will help you beat the boss (make sure you get enough). This is incredibly useful early on because you will get powerful Pokémon (even some legendaries) with high CP.
2) Get a ton of friends and open gifts daily, you will get a lot of XP from that which will allow you to level up quickly
3) Once you have reached a high enough level, you can look up a bit more about PVP, but I suggest you ask here about "Tanking" (so just doing PvP for the resources, spending little time on it).
Hope this helps anon, ask if you have any questions :)
