I think Misty has the best chemistry with Ash but it has been thoroughly WASTED. Frankly she's not interesting enough to sit through 200 fucking episodes and them dropping hints as frequently as they did back then did nothing but make it feel longer.
All these other series where bickering to lovers is a thing? They're all shorter than pokemon, shorter than OS. If Misty had a romantic endgame with Ash it should have happened in the fuckin orange islands.
One thing I like about Amour is that it hit its apex DURING the series it was made.
Pokeshipping kept teasing and teasing which is cute for 10 episodes not 100.
I think getting cut from the show is the best thing that could have happened to Misty, now we had the chance to actually miss her, if she had stayed they would repeat the same annoying cycle ad nauseam until we got sick of her.
People groaned at the idea of an episode focusing on ash and pikachu's bond, that's how people would feel about misty's return if she never left

I left after AG and came back to the anime with XY and didn't think much of Serena initially but from the episode where she challenges her mom and wins onwards I actually got to like her. She's pleasant to be around and got the drive to keep improving herself. Probably the best character development of the franchise, even.
