>>53087171>>53087188I've seen people say that and I don't think there's a lot of truth behind that, I only see English speakers who don't understand Japanese or participate in the Japanese fandom say that. I would imagine that it's at least a statement that was probably based on XY/Serena's height in popularity 10 years ago. It seems to be kind of the same dynamic we have here in the west from what I can see where pokeshipping was dormant for a long time or quashed by rival shippers, except instead of "pokeshipping was invented by 4kids" it's "SatoKasu was already denied by Shudo and abandoned", etc as most Japanese fans seem to have taken this as fact from what I can see.
What's happening now is that the Japanese fandom is kind of exploding with the pokeshipping speculation and a lot of fans seem to think they might be making them canon based on the last episode, it's just general fandom talk and not coming from shippers necessarily, and Amourshippers are seething over it.
