Pokeshipping has the most interesting dynamic by far and amazing interactios that bring the best in both, Meanwhile I find Pearl to excel at being cute and heartwarming, with how much they genuinely care for each other and how supportive they are.
Also both Misty's song (I don't care that it's 4Kids) and High Touch! (cutest lyrics ever) make me smile

In most countries, the dub is based on the 4kids translation, rather than the japanese. Meaning that most countries got a translation with Ash/Misty content baked into it to start with. This includes india. If we take these populations at face value, a minimum 2 thirds of the viewers grew up with overt Ash and Misty hints worldwide, with a minority of them getting the japanese storyline

The funny thing is that I'm pretty sure most of the people complaining about Pokeshipping (which based on looking around seem to be largely Amourshippers) were either babies or weren't even born yet when Misty debuted in the anime.

I believe that given enough time, Ash and Serena would overtake Ash and Misty, however it seems that during the early 2000s pokeshipping reached a height amourshipping has still never been able to, even despite there being a whopping ten times as many people using search engines now.

One thing I did learn from this is that more people search for ships by searching "ash and misty" than "Ashxmisty" or "pokeshipping"
