Personally, I think the ranking probably goes Kanto>Galar>Unova>Paldea>Johto>Hoenn>Sinnoh>Kalos
Kanto easily has the most recognizable ones, get to always all be together in the anime, tcg, in spin offs like Masters and Pocket at Launch. Get merch more than the others overall. Brock, Misty, Sabrina because of the anime, Blue because of rival/champion status, Giovanni for villain status, and Erika is popular among the waifu crowd. Surge is more known as the guy with the war lore implications,and Blaine's history with Cinnabar labs/Mewtwo. I think that along with the normie crowd/general populous who only recognizes KANTOOO/gen 1, is enough the push themselves over the autism online Unova fans have for their characters and the waifu crowds for Elesa and Skyla, as well as the Galar fans
Hard to see how Paldea will fair over the years. People really only care for Iono, Grusha, and Larry, with a small following of Fujos shipping Brassius with Hassel. I imagine Iono, Larry, and Grusha will still be going strong for years to come. However I do think Galar overall ranks above Paldea because of sheer quantity of gym leaders, while Paldea only has 8. Galar gets the rivals Marnie, Bede, then Piers, Raihan, Klara, Nessa, Bea, fat fetishists with Melony, and yumefujos with Kabu in Japan. However, as things stand now, Iono does seem more recognizable and popular than every Galar character, and I think she's in top 10 of pokegirls when it comes to normal fanart and porn, possibly top 5 when you ignore protags. So Paldea does have that going for it.
