Now that they've sorted forced a reboot with BW (that wasn't recieved well), barely referenced the past with XY, the comedic SM's "callbacks" don't ring true for some reason (even though I liked seeing Brock and Misty back).
They dont bother with Pallet Town/Oak's Lab episodes anymore. They have stopped the Muk gags. Supporting characters and rivals are never mentioned again, as well as Ash's accomplishments.
I think they think the fanbase is aging out and new fans won't care about the past since its been 15 to 25 years. They don't value it since they don't have to. A lot of the fun charm is gone and it's really sad.
To me, the anime is OS->AG->DP. I'll still watch the other shit, but it peaked in the Sinnoh League. Should've had Ash win, retire his character and brought a new protagonist with a Pikachu (or Ritchie) as the character for BW onwards.
