But he had a bunch of reasons to be angry. Because of the league's shit security, his Pokemon were tired because Team Rocket kidnapped him and he had to fend them off, and then he wasn't allowed to switch out the members of his party before his match with Ritchie. For some reason sleep is considered the same thing as fainting, even though it's not, and Squirtle was taken out early in the match. And there's also no rule about a disobedient Pokemon being counted out.

But the number 4 should have been more skeptical. They know how this works by now, they've probably seen the clips of Ash losing several Pokemon Leagues and if anyone could reasonably come to the conclusion that it's still going for 20 years because Ash keeps losing when it matters. They really ought to have seen this coming. I did.

Although now that I know what happens, I'm probably not going to watch anymore Pokemon episodes. I've already seen Ash lose to Ritchie and Harrison.

Girl had an amazing training program for her Belsprout. Anyone who can get a Belsprout to become an unstoppable killing machine has the makings of a champion. She only lost to Ash because it was his first time using Muk for anything and he had the whole 'beginner's luck' bullshit going on with Kingler earlier.

Honestly Ash losing to her Belsprout and getting Top 32 would have been better than anything we saw during the Ritchie battle.

If it wasn't for Ash and his whole 'beginner's luck' with his completely untrained Pokémon, that Belsprout could have taken her further than just the top 32. I would honestly have preferred Ash lose to her and get top 32 rather than the whole 'Squirtle is sleeping, it's fainted' and Charizard being a dick bullshit with Ritchie.

Jeanette was a more competent trainer than Ritchie will ever be. If she can get a Belsprout to be an unstoppable killing machine, then she could do just about anything.

He only ever won one battle back in Kanto, and that was against an unnamed kid's Nidorino in the Indigo League.

But then he suddenly was just super strong in the Orange Islands. Likewise, Torkoal was suddenly way more powerful in the Frontier.

Ash lost to Ritchie because Charizard wouldn't listen. He placed top 16.

The Frontier Brains were after the Hoenn league. Ash placed in the top 8 there.

Ash and May competed in a contest before splitting ways. They tied and each took half the ribbon as a sign of friendship.
