Anyone else ever feel like Serena and Misty have both been severely misinterpreted?
There's this weird concept that Serena is a calm ideal japanese tradwife and Misty is a feminist strong female lead.
First of all, the stereotypical japanese wife is neither calm nor a ttradwife, she's an annoying nag who will make your children hate her with her obsession with money, homework, and lawyers. Only a few grades better than Chinese wives. The only people who think otherwise are basement dwellers indoctrinated by porn.
Even prolific amourshippers like P
Then, between Misty and Serena, while Misty is obviously more aggressive, Serena made it pretty clear she has a limit when it comes to the doormat treatment.
They both have moments where they are comedically upset with Ash, but both have 1(1) moment where they are angry at him for drama reasons.
Misty is also distinctly not a feminist character, even compared to serena she barely ever participates in driving off team rocket. She makes it clear whenever the topic of gender is brought up she believes in gender roles. That its a mans job to take care of women ect.
She has the modern lens that women *can* take care of themselves but she has always falls back on Ash and Brock needing to give her soft treatment because she's a girl and they are men.
I feel like shipping has built different concepts in peoples heads about who these characters are
If Ash tried to make a housewife of Serena she would become furious and leave him, while Misty would say it's his duty as a man to take the initiative
