She got the least amount of screentime vs any other female companion post departure. All she got was half an episode where she was very explicitly kept away from Ash and they completely removed aspects of their romance such as the ribbon with no explanation.
Dawn and Misty both got to be there for the end in their own ways which signified their importance, Serena completely and utterly lost by comparison because she was pretty much banned from appearing and was delegated to a taboo topic that will likely never be referenced again, they purposefully avoided advertising her episode but knew they had to make her appear again to pacify fans so they did the bare minimum, and that's without even mentioning how she compares to dark horses like Latias.
No one won, but I would say Serena probably lost the most due to the consequences the kiss had on her appearing ever again.
