Something approved by the creators of Pokémon themselves is the best, most ironclad approval you can get. To my memory, only one other person (Takeshi Shudo, the head writer of OS and practically the anime's father) got to do this, with Lugia.

That doesn't change the fact that Tomiyasu couldn't even make it believable with Mega Evolution (i.e. literally the physical manifestation of a bond between trainer and Pokémon) so he needed aura bullshit as well.
