For example, one thing that I learned relatively recently (but still before Lava) is that Female Nidoran becoming infertile after evolution is actually GF's fully intended decision made already in Gen I times (and not a glitch in GS "made into a feature", as most people wrongly believed).
Some brainlets also posted old information as news, such as the thing how Hitmonchan's body is "posessed" by a pro-boxer's spirit (which I believe isn't to be taken too literally?), which comes straight from the Japanese Red/Green Dex entry for that Pokemon (and is by no means exclusive to this book). Sure, it could've been overlooked, since the Dex Entries in English Red/Blue were based on JP Blue, but still those original RG entries DID eventually get translated in the west (in FireRed), so people who actually paid attention knew this for long.
Also, some things were also mentioned in other sources. For example, the story on how Prof. Westwood accidentally invented PokeBalls during the experiments with drugging an angry Primeape was also brought up in Shudo novelization of the anime.
