I don't think the newer movies are entirely lacking either of those things. For me a lot it depends on the setting. Say, we've had a lot of movies set in future cities (Deoxys, Genesect, Power of Us off the top of my head), whereas something like Giratina goes places between getting Shaymin back where he belongs and the reverse world antics. I will admit the pre-digital movies look strikes me as more authentic, even though that is just preference for a medium.
>>46207269>Movies were made for moviesI can agree a number of the legendary Pokemon would be hard to work into a story, but to extent it feels like how you use what you're given. There was nothing decreeing Shudo would get the Gen 2 Pokemon art and make something like Spell of the Unown, and then you get movies like Zoroark that take an arbitrary set of Pokemon and cook up coming crazy enough to work.
