Or do you think Delia gave that whole short synopsis on Ash’s father during their first phone call when Ash was at his lowest for shits and giggles?
Clearly Shudo was setting something up and Ash’s father was meant to be a main motivator for his journey. It was also a popular fandom-wide theory that Giovanni was Ash’s father who had lost his way whom Ash would someday have to face thereby giving a justifiable kink reason as to why Team Rocket’s (the organization) and Ash’s fates would forever be intertwined.
The fact that the narrative just decided to drop and ignore that plot thread entirely is a testament to it’s bad writing, like it did with the GS Ball.
