>>57853082They wasted a great opportunity to parody JP in a mini-arc in the original series.
Chapter 1 plays out in a similar way, but all they find are Omanyte and Kabuto fossils. Someone in the group (preferably Brock) finds fossilized amber.
Chapter 2 features a Team Rocket scientist offering his technology to clone (revive) those fossils. A paleontologist objects with the classic "Don't interfere with nature" speech. At the end, a couple of fossils are revived, causing problems, and the silhouette of something giant is seen and its roar is heard.
Chapter 3 is a bunch of shenanigans parodying the first movie, a scene of Misty trying to touch an Omanyte and getting spit out with ink (a group of Lapras would also work), being chased by a giant Kabutops in a car, an Aerodactyl hunting a group of Lickitung, an Omastar parodying Nedry's death with Team Rocket inside a car, spitting ink instead of poison, and at the end the humans leaving while an Aerodactyl with an injured wing roars.
The fact that they were just sleeping in a cave ruins the video game reference, and the worst part is that it only served to promote Gold Silver with the appearance of Togepi. It would have been more interesting to use a Larvitar egg and have one of the Pokémon chasing them be a Tyranitar at night just to show its silhouette. Now I understand Shudo's frustration; there were interesting ideas to explore, but he had to submit to the whims of a stuffed animal company.
