>>58208077The villain arc is alright for its first half and it's completely uninteresting for the second half. Originally, it went Kanto > Sinnoh > Johto > Hoenn > Unova... because BDSP had just come out, so Sinnoh got prioritized. This was also when Cynthia & Giratina dropped which was cross-media foreshadowing for Volo at the end of PLA. Giovanni appearing at the end of the Sinnoh story and contemplating about allies is what leads to the Johto villain arc with the Rocket admins.
Hoenn is okay, I mostly liked seeing Maxie and Archie resolve things as character development that carries forward.
Unova is eh, the Unova Legendary Event was far better, and the Unova Arc Suit story was too
Kalos is an actual waste of time where the drama relies on whether or not anything happened (spoilers: it didn't)
I hardly remember Alola, something about disgruntled Aether Foundation employees being evil and some Faba jokes.
Galar is okay, the most interesting aspect is that the characters actually seem to observe that they're from alternate universes from one another for the first time, but they don't go far with it.
School shooter Paulo is kind of cliche, whatever. Felt totally pointless in the end, Giovanni just decides he'll continue scheming. PML ending with the "We're going to hold ANOTHER tournament!" was also lame, obviously nobody playing cared because they never went through with it. Team Break was also a letdown, felt very low effort.
