Either they start breaking continuity on purpose (Piloswine and Lickitung were obviously huge mistakes), or no new evolutions will be added beyond split paths. I'm not going to argue for either side, though, because it's too early.
But let's all remember that Azurill and Wynaut were among the first Pokémon announced for Gen III, which were the ONLY Pokémon connected to previous generations in the new Pokédex. So Sylveon does not confirm or deny the possibility of other evolutions for any Pokémon.
