So what? People are still going to buy the games. Millions of people are going to buy them. They're turn a blind eye towards all of the game's issues and defend the game as though it's an extension of themselves and every critique is a personal attack. And then 5 years from now, all the details about how underwhelming the game was will be blurred and all we'll have is sales data. And then 10 years from now, the millions who bought these games will start feeling nostalgic and we'll start seeing hour long video essays about how they Z-A was an "unfairly maligned" or "criminally underrated" masterpiece. And in the meantime of course Nintendo/TPC/GF will release 3-5 more Pokemon games, each more underwhelming than the last, and each one will sell 10 million copies in its first week.

So please tell me why any of this even matters.

I hope that one day TPC uses them for a spin-off, as well as Guyana, the most logical thing would be retcon like they did with America and Unova, or the Indian elephant and Copperajah.

XY and Kalos are seriously cursed. Everything that could have gone wrong for them went wrong.
No South Kalos, No Z, Ash losing the Kalos League, Zygarde becoming Alola's side-piece, the M8 humiliation ritual, and now this game with so many things I can't even begin to list them so I won't even try.
It's just incredible to see in its own way. There's haters who look at awe at GF and TPC work on Kalos and wish they could be half as good. And all through not even real hatred just plain incompetency.
It's just sad.

The excuse is that they don't have a different arbitrary number next to their name in the Pokedex, as if that means they aren't still recolors that exist to pad out autists' playtime with "shiny hunting" instead of putting more actual content in the games. They even make merchandise for shinies, so even TPC sees them as their own thing and not just a non-canon RNG game mechanic.

Maybe the real reason why BDSP is a shitty faithful chibishit remake is because he wanted to let players look up Dawn's miniskirt in full 3D and the pussies at TPC wouldn't let him.

They don't intend to replicate the actual experience of a pokemon game, so tpc has no legal incentive to pursue them. Whereas Pokemon Uranium was intended to be a complete pokemon experience on PC, Pokemon Unbound was a romhack with a focus on difficulty.

It's been clear that TPC has been working with Smogon for years if you do some light googling. Smogon is inherently not a threat to the pokemon brand because its not about the story, nor is VGC it's main focus. TPC knows that Smogon fulfills a specific niche for entirely free that isnt taking from their profits or replacing any of their games. Could they sue? Probably, but it would be far more damaging to the brand than beneficial, so they work with Smogon instead
