Ultimately, Masters' biggest issue is that it offers not a single thing any other gacha offers a million times better. Production values? Story? Waifu/Husbando pandering? Character interactions? Gameplay? You can get most if not all of those things better in practically any of the top gachas nowadays.
It's only got the brand name to carry it, but there's only so much brand alone can carry without any of all those things. Sure, the mainline games may be shit, but the formula can carry until eternity, what gameplay formula does Masters have? Gachas die and live by their writing and husbando/waifu pandering nowadays and Masters is mediocre at all those things and calling it mediocre is actually praising it too much.
People would roll for duplicate Pokemon if everything else was up to par, but it's not, so it's layers upon layers of repetitiveness and laziness. On any other gacha people would be clapping at the Arc Suits being Super Saiyan versions of the normal outfits but here when everything's so lazy they just feel triple lazy.
Game's cucked from the top all the TPC mandates not letting it be a normal gacha. Game wants to have its cake and to eat it too and therefore it is fundamentally a failure concept-wise.
I'll be glad when it's over.

The way TPC handles the franchise completely conflicts with character-based gachas.
