XY just throw a thousand Pokemon at you, including some incredibly overpowered Pokemon, and it showers you in exp. It's impossible to be underleveled unless you turn off EXP share (which, mercifully, you could still do at this point. Never thought a future game would actually make XY look competent)
If Pokemon distribution were more limited until late/post game or their were some challenge options, the main game could be worth a replay every now and again on an emulator that lets you fast forward past the Tierno/Shauna/that one nerdy boy no one remembers scenes.
