>>50524306Easy, although subtle both BW and XY a null Ash's steadily building progress he accrued in the past series.
An early example in BW is, after the Lenora loss, Ash going to Don George to train his pokemon where he genuanly seemed surprised at the idea of training alongside his pokemon and had to be pushed by George to do it.
In the Elesa battle, he decided to use "strategy for a change" and only used one pokemon and at the end of the battle he declared that he doesn't need to use strategy, and only needs to trust his pokemon or fight his own way, wich contradicts his progress as a strategist from the other series. There is also the ending of BW which bleeds into XY being centers around Ash being negatively affected by his losses in Unova leading to his must win at all costs mentality which was the majority of his arc in XY that contradicts all the times he has experienced loss and managed to get back up and learn from it.
Continuing in XY he's shown to be seriously and negatively impacted by the losses against Viola, Sawyer, and Wolfric, and to recover from them he had to be reminded of his own character by others, mostly Serena because they were trying to push Amour.
Ash also failed to understand that Tierno's dance strategy wouldn't work for him despite practicing it and seemingly forgetting how to bond with his pokemon which was the main cause for failing to master A-G. I could go in infinitely more depth, but I'm sure you get the picture.
