Tierno wants to be a dancer, and gathers Pokemon that know Dance moves. That's about it.
Trevor wants to complete the Pokedex, and compares his dex with the player's every so often. He's closer friends with Tierno and so tends to run after him.
Shauna has no goal, and is just traveling to have a good time with her friends. She's the one that tends to stay behind to wait for the player to catch up with the others.
