Gary is overconfident; not necessarily in his skills as a trainer, but as a leader. He automatically assumes he knows what’s best for Goh, and forces that onto him. THIS is what truly antagonized Goh during the Raid Battle, and Gary went too far. Perhaps if he had taken a milder approach, he could have gotten his point across AND maybe performed better in the battle. Even if their goal wasn’t necessarily to WIN, they still got humiliated.
Gary was given full points for his leadership, which was praised by PM. However, if that drone had seen the conversation prior to the battle, I’m sure Gary wouldn’t have gotten full points.
This upcoming episode will surely lead to Gary acknowledging that Goh is actually someone worthy of respect, and that he isn’t necessarily THAT much of a better person than him.
