>>51583904I don't think it's a sure thing Ash loses, honestly. If he does lose, he'll likely still be all smiles, gushing about how fun the battle was, and how strong Leon is. He'll make some empty promise about "battling Leon again someday" and how next time, he's "gonna win" even though we'll probably never see Leon again after the M8.
If Goh fails, Ash will actually look sad though, lol. He seems to feel more emotion for others that fail (like Iris) than when he himself comes up short.
Maybe that's a good thing though as it shows just how much Ash cares about others. He brushes off others' concern for him, but he's quick to feel for his friends; like when Goh lost to Tokio in 110.
