Tyson didn't screwed a region so bad that it is still suffering form it to the point Ash had to leave his Grenina behind on Kalos forest to clean those mess. Ash deserves to defeat Alain 4 time but the anime staff doesn't has the gut to watch him lose to Ash once.

With PM approaching its end, I can't help but think about all the things they could have done with the whole fan service world adventure thing, but didn't. I imagined a show where Ash regularly used reserves to train his new team (instead of just this one time), culminating in a slam bam league to end all leagues with everyone coming back. We'd see fan favorite one shot characters again, or even just a few of the recurring ones like Casey or Tyson, alongside multiple appearances by the most important ones like Sawyer and Paul.

Instead we got probably the least developed team out of any region, Ash's reserves barely appear, and Dawn gets a few episodes thanks to BDSP shill season while other past main partners/rivals get 1 episode each, if that.

I know a lot of this is just unrealistic neckbeard shit that only autists that actually watched all 1000+ episodes of the show would care about, but they didn't even go halfway with it. PM has had its moments but it sucks to think just how good it could've been if they just put a little more effort into the whole ordeal.

Morrison had only one episode before the league
Tyson had one episode too
The rest were literally whos who never appeared before the league

Iris is a companion who appeared in the anime for ~140 episodes
Lance, Cynthia, Diantha and Steven have all showed up a bunch of times in the anime and Alan had his own miniseries

Oh, Ash most certainly would, but that's not what's in question, it's who will fight who in the match-ups that are out of the contestant's hands. Oh, and if Ash does have that much of a burning desire to fight Alain and right some wrong he can do it at any point, but same as with Ritchie, Harrison, Tyson, Tobias, and Cameron he doesn't see a need to do it.

I agree with your 'essay' for the most part. SM was fine as a standalone series, but put in context with the rest of the show, the League really cucked a lot of people out of the big moment they'd been waiting to see for 20 years; this wasn't the big victory they'd been waiting to see.
Honestly, they had a really good opportunity in the Alola League to bring back characters Ash had never beaten up until that point, like Tyson, Tobias, Virgil and Alain; their presence alone would've made up for this League's lack of 'legitimacy'.

Imagine if they had actually brought back all the league winners from the all past seasons for the final 8? You'd have Tobias, Virgil, John Dickson, and Tyson come back to stay true to the anime history and not try to match the champions of the games when the anime doesn't even take place in the same universe as the games and excludes and sidelines a lot of characters including the actual protagonists for Ash shit with legendaries.
