Are people still in denial that the Alola League was dumbed down so Ash could win. Seriously? Just accept it. I know people are happy Ash finally got his win, but just know it was at the expense of quality competition other than Kukui. Paul, Alain, Cameron, Tyson, Harrison, Morrison, and Katie would shit on the Alola League.

Not really since Sinnoh League had other factor that made it acceptable. For instance, Ash defeated his main rival Paul which was something the anime was building up to from the start of DP series. Furthermore Ash used his older pokemon and even defeated a Darkai. Trobias didn't even appeared until the sinnoh League, he was no different than Tyson and Harrison but had legendary pokemon.

Kalos Leagoe on the otherhand, didn't had any sliver lining. Majority of Ash's battle was skipped and his only notable victory was against a newbie trainer that he defeated multiple time, Furthermore, Alain was a character that deserved to lose in both battle and narrative wise yet he won with the most blunt plot armor. It was probably the biggest showcase of favoritism in any fiction.

Imagine DP seires ends with Paul defeating Ash and winning the whole Sinnoh League while Ash is forced to release Infernape to fix Paul's mess. That's how Kalos League ended.

In my humble opinion, the Hoenn League was what kickstarted it all. Indigo was due to Ash's inexperience while the Sliver conference had him learn a valuable lesson about the world outside of Kanto and Johto. In the Hoenn League, Ash's Pikachu had no real reason to not lose against Tyson's Meowth, let alone keep drawing against him when his own STAB moves should have overpowered the same type of moves being used by the latter's Meowth.

Richie loss was disliked because of the way Ash lost and was disqualified wasn't his fault.

Tobias of course was pretty bad at the time, only off-set by Ash beating Paul and beating two legends

Cameron was hated but all of Unova was disliked anyway

And Alan loss caused the most mainstream backlash due to social media.

When it comes to Tyson, Ash proved himself to be on par with Alain, and Alain impressed Steven. Steven being the champion means he's above Tyson, so it can be assumed that Ash surpassed him too
Cameron's fair game, but seeing as Ash can take down Mega Lucario, Ash is probably at least on par now

In AG besides Brawly's Gym, Ash never lost a battle to anyone up until Elite 4 Drake, and then again didn't lose anything till of course his Hoenn league match to Tyson. I think over the entire span of AG we only see Ash lose....like 5 battles? From what I remember it was to Brawly, Elite 4 Drake, Tyson, and then Anabel and Brandon.

Unless I'm forgetting something, AG Ash was portrayed as very competent and nearly never lost

In the anime it is very often the filler mon that gets beaten by a non main character, for example Jon Dickson beat one in the finals and even Tyson defeated two different ones in the league. There are very few occasions of Rhydon winning a battle other than the one where Charizard didn't want to fight and even that one lost to pikachu right after.

Eevee guy won the Unova League. Still not Champion.
Alain won the Kalos League. Hell, hes even good enough to beat Malva. But not a Champion.

Lots of anime characters have achievements. Ash won the Alola League, but it's still just a League competition. The anime has characters like Steven, Cynthia, and Alder on a whole different level of strength though.

Tyson, Tobias, Eevee guy, and Alain are all League winners but even they aren't at a Champion level. At best, Alain and Tobias can give some E4 members as run for their money but even then aren't good enough to become the region champs.

The real Champions have been on a different level from average trainers, so no, I can't believe Ash is even close to being good enough suddenly. League victories are good achievements but they're not the kind of achievement they are in the games

After that against Paul it couldn't do shit against Gastrodon and proceeded to get raped by Drapion. Swellow on the other hand during its league battles performed similarly to Snorlax in Johto. It beat both Katie's Venomoth and Scizor, only losing to Walrein. Against Tyson Swellow beat both Hariyama and Donphan and even made a crack in the armor of Metagross. It also tied vs. Morrison's Gligar which was shown beating Grovyle, a Machamp and a Marowak.
Hawlucha and Talonflame were solid, but not on Swellow's level.
