Like, Blaziken was probably their expected breakout starter in Hoenn so that's why they gave Harrison one, but it was a good battle nonetheless.
Meowth is popular for obvious reasons so they gave one to Tyson, but gave him its own twist and we got a pretty good battle out of it (not to mention those other great battles in Hoenn League, especially against that 6v6 against that lady with the Walrein).
The Tobias fight has had mixed reactions from what I've seen but at least you really got the impression Ash was really struggling to do his best despite the fact it looked hopeless, and everyone including Pikachu gave it their all, and the rest of the Sinnoh League was great too.
Virgil was just a swell guy that everyone liked, you can call him a Gary Stu and you'd probably be 100% accurate, and there's nothing standout about his Pokemon aside from the fact that they were obviously there for marketing purposes.
We've beat the Cameron dead horse a lot too. It wasn't even just that Lucario shit, he was being an idiot that whole fight.
