It's not a remake, nor is it a fucking sequel, rehash or continuation of XY, or they wouldn't have titled it in the "Legends" banner, you mong painteater. And odds are, they play L: Z-A to the framework L: A did, while mixing up the concept (redeveloping a city, vs settling a wilderness), which includes not handing out the "traditional" set hanfded out in the modern, because the whole concept of pokémon battling, leaguies and handing trainers starter pokémon is still very much in its infancy, per L: A's commentary on events elsewhere in the pokémon world.
