The starters aren't getting regionalised this time, you stupid bastard. Kalos had a gimmick, one which Game Freak confirmed will return, while Sinnoh didn't have one, as the game was still a stone's throw away from its 2D roots to not need a flashy-flashy to distract from it being functionally a 90's era 2D game in the body of a 3D game.
And given it's not even confirmed Hoenn megas will be added, the only guarantees are the ones found in XY's code. Why would they make three new starter megas, when they're lazy, have a starter with a mega stone they distributed on the first day of game sales in 2013, but never actually got to be a guaranteed option in a Kalos game and just have to make two new forms to fill out the L: Z-A set?

I can't see it happening, for the simple reason there's not the same factors in the region that there were in Hisui. Paris was founded 2.2k years ago, there was an organised military in Kalos as a whole 3k years ago in-universe, the region wasn't an empty shithole with primitive tribes until recent times, meaning I doubt, outside extant regionals being extant in the region, I can't see them creating new regionals. the biggest complaint of XY was none of the widely-available Kalos pokémon got megas. I think L: Z-A is going to focus on remedying that.
If you really wanna be arsey, Mega pokémon are the regionals of Kalos, given they were same-pokémon redesigns that functionally ended up as "new" forms added in the Gen, just like regionals in every Gen since..

Pokemon Legends Z-A does not use the same mechanics as its predecessor. Indeed, Pokemon Legends Arceus was intended to be the basis for a more orthodox line of pokemon games. In Pokemon Legends Z-A you won't be a trainer, but an assistant researcher in training. The only difference is that it's more like Pokemon Scarlet and violet, in that you're supposed to be a student in training. The game features two phases and a post-game focusing on multiplayer. The first phase consists of helping the population and filling in your documentation for your research project. The second phase focuses on your experience as a trainer and your willingness to help pokemons. To put it more crudely, one phase involves quests with humans, while the other focuses on your relationship with the pokemons you come across. You need to complete these quests to unlock certain mega evolutions, which in turn are needed to unlock certain locations or unique interactions with npc.

Z-A is set after XY but in the past, we know this because Lysandre is a key character and he was swept back to the past after he was defeated by XY protagonists. Z-A is set years after Lysandre's time travel and he is the one who wants to renovate Lumiose City. Protagonist is from this timeline, not like in Arceus.

Sada and Turo ancestors appear and have swapped gender, they are researchers and you meet them at the beginning.

First starters are Litten, Chikorita and Sobble. They have a regional final evolution (Fire/Poison, Grass/Psychic, Water/Ghost) but no Mega.
You are required to pick one between Froakie, Fennekin and Chespin later when you can use Mega (they have Mega Forms).

One special Core Zygarde is found early in the game and it's always with the protagonist like Pikachu and Eevee, it doesn't merge with the cells you find.

You must turn into a Pokémon to explore all of Lumiose City. As a Pokémon you fight wild ones in battles that aren't turn-based, similar to Arceus gameplay but you can attack back as a Pokémon and catch them sort of like in the anime. Wild mons aren't as dangerous when you play as a human but they are harder to catch because you can't have the KO bonus. Classic battles and use of Mega are mostly against other trainers.

Persian gets haircuts like Furfrou and they change its type. Furfrou doesn't change type but gets special moves depending on haircut.

Lumiose City is very big and there are many quests to complete both by humans and by Pokémon.

There is no new Legendary but Xerneas and Yveltal both get a Mega Forme.

This is also why the whole game is set in Lumiose - it's not the 3DS representation of the place, but WILL in fact be a large open area that eventually gets built into Lumiose city as XY presented it, only more expansive to investigate, as it's not part of the core series, thus WON'T have the extraneous areas of the region, as per the story Game Freak intend to tell. Sorry lad, you still have another 9+ years to go before they drop a new console to make an XY remake for you, but L: Z-A isn't that remake. Stop expecting it to be.

I've had an idea for a Steelix that was hit by Lysandre's ultimate weapon's beam while it was underground in XY, and was permanently mega evolved there. It gradually became much different over the course of twelve years in Z-A and becomes a Steel/Fire type.

Pokemon XY remasters (not remakes) by ILCA releasing this holiday season. PSS is gutted.
Only a few minutes of PLZ-A gameplay and the starters are revealed. Releases in Summer or Holiday 2025.

I think that XY remasters are very plausible since it makes sense that it wouldn't be announced in the last presents because there's only so much that you can drum up about a remaster in eight to nine months.

The difference in difficulty between XY and USUM is insane, I was not prepared for that at all. Definitely the most deaths I've had in a nuzlocke, even though I felt like I was actually very lucky this run with narrow survivals, silly AI decisions and clutch crits/status effects, and of course lucking out with a Zoroa against Ultra-Necrozma. Got kinda demoralised halfway through the game with how many deaths we had despite of that, but I'm glad we finished it. Losing a shiny in the Elite Four fucking sucks though, especially since it was such a dumb play from my part, but what can you do?
Think I'm gonna take a little break from nuzlocking for a while now though. I've been way too busy lately and my backlog of other games I want to play has been growing. Will still be lurking these threads though.
