Fingers crossed there's some kind of update to tie it in with Z-A. It's a bit suspicious that the only box legendaries that cannot be obtained in SV are the XYZ trio. Especially since the XY starters and mythicals (and Carbink) have been in the game since launch.

ORAS shows megastones appear in Hoenn as meteors, and Rayquaza also obtains mega energy from irradiated meteoroids in the atmosphere... that's the Ultimate Weapon's doing too, XY shows the beam going to space before landing in Kalos. ORAS also shows the energy of mother nature (which links to Zygarde) produces megastones too. So no ORAS didn't retcon the origin of the megastones, if anything, it expanded it from "Xerneas/Yveltal influence" to "XYZ trio influence".

Pro tip: Play gen 6 next time you want to discuss gen 6.

I was almost impressed that they looked at Infernape's dogshit design and Torterra's evolutionary design schizophrenia and really said "Yep that's gonna be EVERY FUCKING STARTER line" when they did in the first time in Gen V but by XYZ I wasn't entertained anymore. If there's one thing I can say about S/V at least it returned to having at least 2 starter lines be aesthetically well designed and congruent with themselves again.

I don't really think there's a pattern. I enjoyed every gen of the anime to a certain degree but XY was definitely the most lacking. Animation and battles were cool but other than that the main cast's interactions with people and Pokemon were super lacking compared to the other gens.
Many people have said it before but XY/XYZ really does feel like a battle shonen, though it plays it way too seriously and the breaks in between big battles aren't handled well. Kinda brings to mind the Zamasu arc of DBS where it's serious battling 99% of the time and drags because of it.

The ashnime had this cool dramatic adventure action movie thing sitcom with borderline ecchi going on from the first episode

I WATCHED the YKW anime for 15 ish episodes and it's very... uneventful in comparison.

There's this guy Nate or Keita or whatever localization nickname he's got and all he does is... talk to ghosts but in a very casual way. There's no tension.

It doesn't live up to previous standards for yokai themed shows like Bleach, Shaman King, Inuyasha so you end up wondering like what is this and why is this popular?

It's not an intense anime and it doesn't particularly appeal to what I assume American audiences like in anime related media (cool supernatural action, pseudo intellectual imagery, hot chicks and contrived romance drama to the maximum). The ashnime delivers on that, YKW didn't because it's just a very different type of story

I guess Japan appreciated YKW way more due to the shounen oversaturation

It is very unlikely that Zeraora was always intended to be related to the XYZ trio, given that it came out many years later in an unrelated game, and isn't even a squirrel. This is almost certainly a retroactive change that did not inform Zeraora's creation or prior use.

Pokemon also has no equivalent for Ratatoskr in the myth of Yggdrasil, and we know that Zeraora is "starring" in PLZA, so it's possible that Zeraora is meant to be a stand-in for Ratatoskr.
