I'm inclined to say no just because Gamefreak already dumped their Zygarde lore on XYZ's anime and SM with the Zygarde cells and cores. It also makes no sense for Zygarde to be a wish-granting unfathomable entity when its entire deal is to check Xerneas and Yveltal.

Rewatching it really cemented it to me that he was more collected overall and his biggest fuck ups honestly were only his tendency to rush into things instead of taking atleast some time to get his game straight. His first Match against Viola showed that well, he didn't trained with his Pikachu and his Fletchling against her Bug types and her Icefield tactic and he payed for it. Same goes for the 8th Gym, although the execution about it was really bad, with that snowball scene taking the cake of going about delivering a good message the wrong way, which was then honestly well-summarized by Serena after Ash lost in the Kalos League:
All that mattered to him in the end was that he honestly gave it all he got with his team and he wouldn't ask for more than it.

We also don't know this. There's no indication that Iris ever won a single badge, and at the end of BW, it was instead stated that she would become a gym leader (to align with her BW game self). As such, it's more likely to assume the timeline went something like this:
>Iris returns to Unova from her autistic Rayquaza hunt in Johto
>trains with Drayden and is soon granted the position of gym leader, as promised
>builds up a strong streak
>as an active gym leader, she is allowed to challenge the E4/Champion directly without a badge quest or competing in the regional tournament
>does so
>defeats the E4 and then defeats Alder to become the new champion
>shortly after, the PWCS starts up again and she decides to compete this year
Her becoming champion would've likely taken place either in line with the end of SM, or possibly the start of JN (giving a reason Iris likely wasn't in the PWCS that ended Leon vs. Lance). And her becoming gym leader to begin with probably aligns with XYZ or early SM.

Can confirm. You'll find boatloads of them for AG, DP, and BW for a few bucks a pop on Yahoo! And this is why gamefreak never improves. They're afraid to learn proper game development and grow through learning solutions to problems. In any other game development company you would be fired but gamefreak encourages this.

fighting has gone from often requiring specific martial/wrestling inspirations to now being "this pokemon likes to battle and is perhaps aggressive." It's more or less the new normal type while normal itself is relegated to regional rodents and normal/xyz dual types they haven't checked off the list yet.

Absolutely. Serena literally didn't even acknowledge Goh and Goh went mute for the rest of the episode. The least they could've done was allowed Goh to say hi and introduce himself before the ship parted, though I understand they wanted to give Ash and Serena "their moment." I just feel Goh should've been allowed to just say hi.

I think it might've just been more fun to get Ash & Goh involved in some hijinks with Serena's contest venue. Ignore the kissy crap, ignore the romance, just give Serena an episode to exist in JN's looser, more comedic world. Lucario and Cinderace trying out showcases/contests along with Delphox would have been nice to see, even if it was just a practice run.

That, and, despite me not really liking Serena, her new design is nice and she shares an extremely similar color palette to Goh, so they'd be nice on screen together.

Eh, it was actually almost 1:1 what I predicted for her return episode shortly after the Iris and initial Dawn episodes premiered: mentoring Chloe, either just misses Ash by a frame or meets him only at the end of the episode, Delphox, etc. I'm actually amazed how accurate my prediction was and regret not writing a fic with it to put the prediction into public writing. All in all, there's not much more you could've done to maintain the XYZ ending's status quo without doing something OOC like having Ash become a romantic and return the kiss, so I accept it for what it was.

Reasonable. There's no reason for a VA to be talking up a future series if (A) his character wasn't going to be in it or (B) the anime was ending and there wasn't going to be a future series. Also >>52184756. If this really was the end of either Goh or the anime as a whole, he'd be doing a bazillion interviews to hype up 133, 134, and 135 if they really were the end for him.
