The XYfags who shit on SM/PM2019 tend to be people who had dropped the anime before and only came back for SM. You tend to see a lot of them on /padt/ and Serebii/Bulbagarden, which isn't really surprising when you consider their demographics. On the other hand, from what I've seen on Twitter and elsewhere, the younger XYfags who started with XY mostly stuck around for SM and PM2019 and generally have positive opinions about it.
