Most of the good posters left when SM started. The ones you probably remember. The ones that stayed were shitposters, XYfags assblasted about everything and SMfags trying way too hard pretending SM was better than it actually was as a counter for XYfags butthurt spam. This just lead to SMfags going full shitposting and became terrible posters.
The only ones not at fault are the ones that left. XYfags that couldn't let go of XY started the downfall and with there being relatively few posters that enjoyed SM with pretty much all of them being objectively terrible posters there was no chance for these threads to be saved.
Having your series get constantly shat on obviously makes it somewhat understandable why SMfags are pissed but they're objectively terrible posters that rather shit on XY and shitpost than discuss SM.
Tldr: Having only shitty buttblasted posters stay while the new ones became garbage posters because of it is why these threads have been shit for the last years.
