XY was the only era where there was actual discussion of the anime in the anime discussion thread, outside of episodes that just aired or "event" arcs like leagues or character returns. People would reminische about their favorite episodes and make memes and otherwise be engaged with the currently airing anime beyond what just aired. Post-XY pretty much the most consistently discussed thing here is shipping, which will probably never end, and ultimately very little about the currently airing series itself. Which I guess is why these threads have to go back and back to XY and "XYfags" as if they were the cause of there being no real anime discussion anymore for years, instead of the anime itself being kind of dull now. Sad.

They never did and it was obvious six years ago when they had Ash be completely oblivious to her feelings throughout XY. Amourfags, really XYfags in general, overrate how important their series is. Once Gen 6 ended, XY became irrelevant just like every other series outside of maybe the first one.
