But the author decided to add a freaking harem with a side girl that mogs Alya so hard that there is no reason to cheer for Alya except for her name being on the title as the winning girl. Why? That's what "Real" anime does!
Many interesting premise got ruined because the author tried to make it a "real" anime instead of being simple. Pokémon never needed to be mature and serious anime, it would done better as a slice of life anime with fun characters with dynamic interaction but that's exactly what current pokemon anime refuse to do.
Pokémon also doesn't need a harem for Ash, the series just need a more attractive version of Dawn who's character design stands out even more than other anime girl like Marsha (Roshidere). Yajima had the opportunity but he wasted it because he wanted XY to be "Real" anime like Naruto.
