Serena's shipbait and Ash's competence bait were the things that made /padt/ into a daily general, and once they are gone, /padt/ will wither without them. At first, shitposters will keep them alive with Lilliespamming (to fuck with amourfags) and shitposting about Ash's reboot (to fuck with the rest of the people that keep watching). Once SM isn't what the people who were willing to watch it expected for, they'll slowly drop the anime, even those who will ironically watch it just to fuck with XYfags. Then, even shitposting will die off after finishing beating the horse, and you will end up with 10 or 15 fags who will try to keep /padt/ afloat, while the threads reach page 10 and get pruned without even getting to bump limit, and we will return to the hype threads. Threads that will only get lit and linger a little more during episode days or whenever Adamant delivers subs.
