Unlike DP, XY at least had some stuff that was worth posting gifs of to all the regular sakuga outlets, and while Yajima was only a storyboarder and director, he got the credit/blame for it regardless of whether he had any direct involvement in it. XY also had a lot of different creative decisions that inspired opinions, you know, like the Kalos Disaster, or Alain, or amourshipping. The fact that Yajima was the one who gave the interview confirming that Serena did, in fact, kiss Ash by itself has made his name contentious.
Famon's constant spouting of buzzwords about XY is retarded, but he didn't come up with it himself. He got most of his opinions on Yajima from people talking about him here or on tumblr and decided to repeat the worst hits compilation.
