Don’t get me wrong, I loved Gen 8’s designs. Obstagoon and Mr. Rime are my 3rd and 5th favorite respectively. The gameplay was alright, pretty much carried by camping and the wild area. The problem isn’t that they’re lazy or money hungry, it’s pretty close to one of the only problems with Smash Ultimate. The devs don’t even play their own games and have no reference for what the fans want. Think about it.
The fire emblem characters in Smash have been consistently decent in the competitive scene and are popular amongst top players. Some games later and we have 8 Fire emblem characters now.
Greninja has been a pretty okay special sweeper since it’s debut in X/Y, and Protean only made him better. Not only that, but he basically overtook popularity polls to the point where he was chosen to be in smash, given a whole new form, and became one if the most popular Pokemon ever. 2 gens later, every since starter has been a jobmon. Incineroar and Primarina’s success made it worse, and Rilla and Cinderace probably aren’t going to help much either.
